Products
A product represents something you sell — a software subscription, a service, or a usage-based offering.
When should I read this?
Read this if you're setting up your product catalog or need to understand how products relate to pricing and subscriptions.
What is a product?
A product in Floatless contains:
- Name and description — what you're selling
- Pricing model — how customers are charged
- Billing interval — monthly, yearly, or custom
- Status — active or archived
Products vs. Prices
Floatless separates the concept of what you sell (product) from how much it costs (price):
| Concept | Example |
|---|---|
| Product | "Pro Plan" |
| Price | "$49/month" or "$499/year" |
A single product can have multiple prices (e.g., monthly and annual billing).
Product types
| Type | Description |
|---|---|
| Recurring | Billed on a regular schedule (monthly, yearly) |
| One-time | Single charge, no renewal |
| Usage-based | Charged based on consumption |
Common operations
- Create a product — define what you sell
- Add pricing — attach one or more prices
- Archive — hide from new subscriptions without deleting
