Add Your First Customer
Customers are the heart of your billing operations. In Floatless, a "Customer" profile holds everything you need to know about them: contact details, billing preferences, and payment history.
What You Need
Before adding a customer, simply have their basic contact information ready.
Step-by-Step Guide
Navigate to Customers
Click on Customers in the left sidebar, then click the + New Customer button. ![Screenshot: The empty Customer List with the New Customer button highlighted]
Enter Identification Details
- Name: The legal name of the company or individual (e.g., "Globex Corporation" or "John Doe").
- Contact Name: (Optional) The specific person you deal with (e.g., "Jane Smith, Accounts Payable").
Add Contact Info
- Email: This is where invoices will be sent.
- Phone: Useful for billing notifications or follow-ups.
Set Billing Address
Enter the official billing address. This must match the address on their payment method to avoid transaction declines.
Configure Billing Settings
- Tax ID: If they are a business, enter their VAT or Tax ID here so it appears on their invoices.
- Tax Exempt: Check this box only if this customer is legally exempt from taxes (e.g., a non-profit).
Auto-Pay: By default, Auto-Pay is Enabled. This means if you have their credit card on file, Floatless will attempt to charge it automatically on the invoice due date. You can disable this if they prefer to pay manually.
Save Customer
Click Create Customer. You can now create invoices and subscriptions for them immediately.
